A lifeline.
That’s what APRON Inc. gave me.
In 2013, I was diagnosed with cancer.
As a chef, my health was everything. But cancer took that away, and I couldn’t work.
My family’s restaurant, Science Hill Inn, had been the heart of our lives. But when my health worsened, I had to close it down.
Losing the restaurant felt like losing everything—our business, our livelihood, and our future.
In 2018, the cancer came back. Stage 3 breast cancer. The fear of what was to come was overwhelming.
But APRON was there. They covered my bills, giving me the time I needed to recover without the fear of losing everything.
Without their support, I would have lost my home, my security, and my peace of mind.
APRON is a lifeline for restaurant workers facing unexpected crises. They were there for me, and they are there for others.
This holiday season, please donate to APRON and help provide a lifeline to others in need, like me.
With gratitude,
Ellen Gill McCarty
